Time Management

On 8th Oct, I've attended a research training workshop on Time Management. Here I would like to share several tips and techniques that can help us as PhD students to manage our time more effectively.

1. Identify the people whom you must influence to use less of your time.

2. Take time out for planning and creative thinking.

3. Group together related activities to save 'stopping and starting'.

4. Use a 'to do' list.

5. Establish your priorities on a monthly, weekly and daily basis.

6. Do difficult work first, before starting work you like best.

7. Knowl when you have most energy during the day. use this time to aacomplish difficult tasks.

8. Be flexible. Leave a proportion of time during the day for the unexpected.

9. Avoid hesitation. Allocate a specific time by which you must make a decision.

10. Complete the task left unfinished from the day before at the beginning of the next day.

11. Assing long periods of time (without interference) to large tasks.

12. Break large tasks down into smaller tasks so you feel you are achieving more.

13. Set an objective for all meetings. Plan and agree an agenda in advance.

14. Agree an outcome for each meeting and make certain that action is taken.

15. Schedule top-priority tasks at the beginning of each week.

16. Learn to say 'no' to jobs which are not yours.

17. Delegate tasks which are not urgent and important.

18. Have a tidy desk- only keep papers on which you are working on it.

19. Set realistic deadlines.

20. Save small talk for outside work.

TIME : we all have the same amount, it is free, not subject to recession, interest rates or inflation,....it cannot be bought, sold or stored....

Surah Al-Asr (ayat 103)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم: Dengan nama Allah Yang Maha Pemurah lagi Maha Penyayang.

وَالْعَصْرِ Demi masa.
إِنَّ الإنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ Sesungguhnya manusia itu benar-benar dalam kerugian,

103. Surah Al-Asr (The Time)
